Question ID: 517115
I recently had sex with my girlfriend. I used a condom and foam
applied the foam into her vagina and into my condom. I also inserted
foam a few minutes after intercourse. As I was cumming I pulled out of
her vagina. THE MOST IMPORTNAT FACTOR IS THAT THIS WAS EITHER HER LAST
DAY OF HER PERIOD OR THE DAY AFTER HER PERIOD. What is the possibility
of her getting pregnant and is there less risk the day after her
period when we did it? Pleas answer asap

Hello uclabru1-ga,

Considering you used a condom with spermicide, a spermicidal foam, and
you pulled out. The chances are VERY UNLIKELY. Also, considering she
was on day 28, or day 1 of her period cycle, it's very unlikely she
could get pregnant.

"Fortunately, there is actually about a 4 day window in which
intercourse is most likely to result in pregnancy . Your most fertile
time is about 12 to 15 days before the beginning of the next menstrual
period. In our example of a typical 28 day menstrual cycle (Female
Body: Typical Menstrual Cycle), Cycle Days 12-15 would be the most
likely days for intercourse to result in pregnancy"

If you're still worried, go get a pregnancy test, many places, such as
Planned Parenthood, will do them for free and confidentially.

the pregnancy chances are only if you have sex between 8-18th day from
the 5th day of your period completion.

Pretty low. Never heard of applying foam inside the condom. That
might nor be a good idea since you want a good seal. I think condoms,
properly used, are 97% effective. Foam is probably 60 or 70 %
effective. (so going on that .3 * .03 = .009 or about 1% chance of
sperm being released. If it is a 50% chance without any protection
then that would be about .5% chance. It is possible, but highly
unlikely that she was ovulating during her period. So the odds are
pretty low.

You seem pretty worried about it. I would try a different method for
sex (eg oral) to not have ot deal with it.

When you say 5th day of period completion? so the day it ends 8 days
after that 5th day? or the 8th day after the period has started
whether or not the period was completed.

Check out the "morning after" pill for emergency contraception.

An effective back up if your primary contreceptive method fails, or
good emergency option after unprotected sex.

I don't think you have much to worry about. The fact that you used
contraceptives reduces the chances of impregnation significantly.
Furthermore, while it is technically possible to impregnate a woman at
almost any time, it is less likely right after her 'period' since that
is the time when the body flushes out the unfertilized egg in order to
repeat the menstrual cycle. The most likely time a woman can be
impregnated is starting halfway between her period and leading up to
it, when she is ovulating. That is when the egg is released and it
begins to make its way down the fallopian tubes and into the uterus.
