Question ID: 517156
I presently have Anderson Electric windows - about 20 years old
technology with wired remote. They haven't worked for the past ten
years, since a thunderstorm. I'm ready to forget repair, and just
replace the windows. They are about twelve meters high, so I need to
replace with remote electric windows. Where can I find information
and shop for replacement electric windows for my home, like the kind
that are provided to handicapped individuals, and really good
installation instructions for installers?

rruss-ga; You probably have Andersen Windows and not Anderson. You can
reach Andersen through www.andersenwindows.com. anderson windows are
now sun windows and are at sunwindows.com. I do not believe that sun
ever had electric operators unless they were bought through Truth
Hardware (which may also provide them for Andersen) The warranty used
to be ten years for parts though storm damage would not have been
covered. Check out Andersen's web site and find a local dealer or
distributor to help. Replacing the electric motors is not hard but the
problem is probably in the controls.
Success!!!

windomon-ga;

You're right in one thing. I have Anderson windows. The electric
operators are also labeled Anderson Windows too. I have chedked at
SunWindows.com, and did not find any operator hardware. I check Truth
Hardware, and they might have a solution that I can use to replace my
existing system. I'll have to get their catalog and see.

The old system [labeled as: Anderson Windows] was a low voltage
power distribution system. I think I would have to replace all the
wireing to install one of the Truth Hardware systems. With that much
drywall work at this height off the floor, I'd almost rather just
replace the windows.

In any case, thanks for your post - I'll check it out immediately.
