Question ID: 517200
From around 1995 to 2003 I submitted many poems to the
(Chicken Soup for the Soul!)and (Amazing Instant Poets) connected
to each other under (write and win). They had weekly writing contests
that you could post on. Many times they would have a theme and you
were to write on the spot. I did often and although I saved them on my
hard drive, the hard drive drove itself into the ground along with my
poems. I was not too worried for I trusted the " Chicken Soup For The
Soul" name and consistant history. But recently I got a new computer
and a new screen name. I tried to get into the above sites to copy my
posts but was denied access in the chicken soup board, because it is
no longer active. I tried to go back and get my works by using my
screen name I used when contributing to the board for each poem or
story. I can do so by going thru the Instant Novels site for some
submissions but not the chicken soup ones, which I won many of.
Because I don't remember my titles or grouping under which I posted
them, I tried to use (search) with my screen name as the key word but
it only allows for the last 30 days. I asked Chicken Soup and got a
....you response. They must have had a battle with AOL and us little
guys have to suffer. Any way please please help me get any of my
words back that I posted there. Please email me for my screen name
and other info.

Would you please write three or four consecutive words -that you
consider an unfrequent combination- of any of our poems, so I could
take a try searching them?

Dear I-do-mental-floss,

What was/were the website(s) (including those unavailable today)?

Clarification of Question by idomentalfloss-ga on 03 May 2005 12:56 PDT
Chicken Soup for the Soul! THis message board was only available
through AOL although it would too connect you to their web site to buy
their books. I remember that if you did not have AOL it was hard to
find. Now once you were at the message board site you could also
enter in other writing contests.... another key word there.... under
that umbrella, you could post a "message" poem in other connected
rooms like (write to win) or ( Amazing instant novelist} those two
sites still remain active but their original main office lets call it
was the one that no longer allows enterence for some reason. Bottom
line is you need to find the magic key to find anything submitted to *
Chicken Soup for the Soul* IMPORTANT..... AOL KEY WORD IS CHICKEN
SOUP, from there you need to type in the screen name (notmesmom6) and
get all those yummy words they stole from me between i think 1995 and
2003

If you can post the actual website addresses, it would be a help.

It's hard, as things now stand, to really know which sites you're referring to.

Thanks,

Somebody, aka pafalafa-ga

another key to unlock this mystery..... below is a link to My Boards
on AOL. here if you can access it you will find the names and dates
of all my submissions to chicken soup for the soul. Now when I click
on it to read them I can't because it is no longer an active site.

I did find Chicken Soup for the Soul and Amazing Instant Poets through
AOL ... but alas, I haven't found your poems.

Also, I can't see your list of submissions on My Boards. (Perhaps you
see them when you sign on -- they're your boards, after all -- but
others can't see them when they sign on.) Could you list names,
dates, and links for those submissions here?

I'm intrigued by "Click here: How to find LOST POSTS <>." Could you
provide a link? Alternatively, how did you find this text?

I'm sorry, I don't understand your clarification. I've tried running
this search on Google:

( LOST POSTS <<LDRS NOVEL)

I don't see the link you're talking about.

Could you post the actual link -- in other words, the website address?
(Or you could post the entire result -- both the text and the website
address that you find relevant in the Google results.)

Clarification of Question by idomentalfloss-ga on 13 May 2005 08:41 PDT
ok i get it now, it think, I can't get a address because the site is
basically considered a community board to post on but only if you are
a member of AOL. So i think i just got tangled in a loop hole. I
selected all from the board, copy and pasted below for you. I do
believe though that they only way I can get those poems back is to
find a way to unlock the closed site, or find a crack in the goggle
world that might have picked up on past posts . Should I change my
search from the web to groups? I did contact AOL and share with them
my frustration and how unfair it was for AOL and Chicken soup for the
soul message boards to not give me ample time to copy my submissions
before they locked the door. I did get a very kind letter back
stating they will look into it. I hope so. But I still see $50
dangling up in this site somewhere if you want to grab and run. I am
also going to cut and paste My Boards, it has a list of all the
rooms_contests that I have entered and won in under the screen name
notmesmom6 and walshbeverly but it also lists everyone else's poems so
you must go into set up and find a way for it to only display my
words. But I must warn you many poems are located but chicken soup
posts just went POOOF into Sybil Cyber hell

listed here: LDRS NOVL's Dove, Carmel, Hap, Karen, Loki, Fur, Heart,
Sly and Dark.

Good Luck!
