I've seen things all over regarding Mechanics Liens in the state of
Illinois. Are there any rules or regulations regarding
non-construction related liens? We are holding some computer
equipment for a customer who owes us more, in past bills, than the
equipment is worth. These bills are now over 60 days past due. What
rights do we have in this situation for holding/selling their
equipment? The equipment is held in Chicago, Illinois.

Do you have a written agreement with the customer that specifies your rights?
