that seems fine. however, i am looking at a more specific reference
that take me beyond those three segments. is electronic content a
segment of publishing. how do you distinguesh between electronic
publishing and content publishing in the net. is news agency a
publisher ... etc. this sort of stuff

thanks

I hope I didn't misunderstand your original question.

Another way to look at the industry is via census definitions. Here
is a link to the categories of "Publishing Industries" as currently
defined by the Census Bureau:

http://www.census.gov/epcd/ec97/industry/E511.HTM

Note that many of the industry categories such as "Newspaper,
periodical, book, & database publishers" have a "MORE" link next to
them, that you can click on for even more detailed sub-categories.

Hope that's what you need. But if not, just let me know, and I'll
continue to look for other resources.

Cheers.
