Question ID: 517613
I am a reseller for a few windows hosting companies where I provide
hosting to my clients. I am having a problem with two of my servers.
When I use any program to edit the remote file on the web server, the
chang hange is made to the website but not reflected in the actual
file so if you refresh the page the change is committed, but when you
post that file out again, the change is not made. (So when our
developers go back in to make another change, the file is reverted
back) There seems to be a delay or a caching problem on the server
end. (thesea re windows 2003 servers with iis6) I tried many ftp
programs and even the ftp in explorer. I even went as far as
modifying a page, and calling up my coworker in another state to see
if he can see the changes using his own ftp program, and the change is
still not made. (you have to wait several minutes for this change to
occur)

Please refer to this google article about others haveing the same
problem and microsoft having a patch for it. I cannot find the patch.
Perhaps you can help me pinpoint the problem and also to come up with
a solution so I can tell my 2 hosting companies solve this problem?
IT is driving me, my clients, and my developers crazy!!

Howdy pc geek,

Has Service Pack 1 (SP1) been applied to the servers?

Learn About and Install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/servicepack/default.mspx

SP1 takes care of all sorts of problems, such as cache problems.

IIS 6.0 serves stale content ...

Content in Web pages does not appear as expected ...

Hi and thanks for responding.
I have found out more about this problem. It has to do with ASP
caching on windows servers with iis6. I find that another server
running windows 2000 and iis5 does NOT have this problem. The servers
running 2003 with iis6 do.

I will look at the links you sent and take a look.
I am thinking that it is some kind of bug.

Thanks so much
Peg
