Thanks, pinkfreud- the reference to Australian data may be what I end up using, though American would be better- I thought this would be an easy one!- if I do use it, I will ask you to enter it as a Response |

There is also a paper published by JAMA called 'Medical Care Delivery at the 1996 Olympic Games', found at: http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/reprint/279/18/1463.pdf If you scroll down in the paper, at Table 4-Medical Service Use ... the authors provide medical service rates per 10,000 spectators (the average is 22.9 per 10,000, although the rates vary per venue attended.) You might also like to see 'Watching the Games: public health surveillance for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games' available at: http://jech.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/57/2/102?ck=nck At the bottom of that page there is a list of reference articles that might also be helpful. |

Thank you, af40. I'm going to cancel the question now, and find out how applicable this data might be. I will repost if it turns out that we really need American data. |
