Thanks, pinkfreud-  the reference to Australian data may be what I end
up using, though American would be better-  I thought this would be an
easy one!-  if I do use it, I will ask you to enter it as a Response

There is also a paper published by JAMA called 'Medical Care Delivery
at the 1996 Olympic Games', found at:

If you scroll down in the paper, at Table 4-Medical Service Use ...
the authors provide medical service rates per 10,000 spectators (the
average is 22.9 per 10,000, although the rates vary per venue
attended.)

Thank you, af40.  I'm going to cancel the question now, and find out
how applicable this data might be.  I will repost if it turns out that
we really need American data.
