It all depends which group are you trying to reach:
1- English speaking hispanics
2- Spanish speaking hispanics
For group #1, you should be aware that we hispanics residing in the US
speak to each other in "spanglish". And the language we use to do our
searches will basically depend on the type of search we are doing:
** If it is about shopping or school info, and due to the fact that
the english version of the WWW is far more advanced that the spanish
one, we know we can find more information if the search is done in
english, therefore, we mostly use the standard version of the search
engine. ://www.google.com.
** If it is related to our cultural background, like recipes,
country information, traveling and more, we will do it in spanish. Do
you know that if you type in a term in spanish in google.com you will
get your results in spanish anyways? It doesn't matter if we are not
in the latinoamerican google(*) you will get relevant results.
For group#2, is pretty much the same thing although in some countries
there are preferred "Default" search engines that "come" with your
email address:
** If you have an email account in hotmail or yahoo -Did I say
popular email servers?- when you sign in your email and then log out,
you will be redirected to the language version of each search engine:
espanol.yahoo.com or latam.msn.com, they get this data from you when
you create your account.
Going back to the original question, the answer is that most hispanics
in the US will use www.google.com as their search engine.
I hope this answers your question.
(*)By the way, is the first time I hear about the
://www.google.com/intl/es/, which I assume is targeted to the
spanish speaking population in Spain. |
