Snotlet, you are absolutely right. Websearcher was just kind of paddling around this morning and not really surfing, or just batting fungoes, i.e., what I usually do here. Here is what a pseudo-websearcher turned up (all quotations from various sites, my comments in brackets following each): The mention of Ted Williams always brings to mind one word ? hitting. (The Super Ted, the ?magic word?: "hitting" .406 season average one year) So Williams picked up a bat and commenced to smash line drives all over the place as his players gaped. Then, without a word, he threw down the bat and stalked to the clubhouse. (The word so secret that it remained unspeakable - see below) The word "hero" is, I think, widely misused as it is commonly applied to sports stars. Professional athletes deserve our admiration for their skills and feats of greatness, but there is nothing particularly heroic about getting paid an exorbitant salary to play an enjoyable sport that millions play for the sheer joy of it. But Williams is one of the authentic heroes the game has produced, ? (Super Ted, the Hero) Hitting is 50% above the shoulders. --Ted Williams (The magic of Ted's being super) But I never heard Ted complain about that. Not once. Not a word.'' (Again, the secret word, unspoken or unspeakable) There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived. ... Indeed, he never uttered a discouraging word during my lousy season (And again ...) Williams was clearly the most thrilling person I ever met in the game, the best hitter, the best conversationalist (if you could get by his word-broken phrases such as ?unfuckingbelievable? and the most opinionated. (Uhhh! The "magic word"!) One of the scholasticists behind me said, "Let's go. We've seen everything. I don't want to spoil it." This seemed a sound aesthetic decision. Williams' last word had been so exquisitely chosen, such a perfect fusion of expectation, intention, and execution, that already it felt a little unreal in my head ... (The last quotation refers to Ted's last time on the field, but I use it to confirm that his "magic word" was indeed the one in the previous line. Next batter ... (I am an amateur, just brought in to pinch hit on Sundays, so I can't accept any money.) :-) |

Just surfing on the internet I found this comment on Super Ted's magic word: "Before any more people ask, sorry, I don't know his magic word - as far as I know it was never said on air. Given the idea of the transformation probably came from Captain Marvel (look at the costume Super Ted wears), I wouldn't be surprised if his word was Shazam - but don't quote me on that!" I hope he doesn't mind me quoting him anyway :p |

Apparently, Nobody actually knows Super Ted's magic words because the creators were worried young kids might repeat them thinking it'd make them fly, so they never let it out what the words were |
