Hello. We are a young couple looking to get married via a small (10-15
people) ceremony performed outdoors in a picturesque setting (great
views are important) with or without a cocktail hour/brunch/dinner on
site (this would depend on the price). Please help us find some sites
(a minimum of 4 phone numbers or websites) that would meet our
requirements below. We are from New York area and narrowed our
preferences to a B&B, inn, cottage or any other facility in New York
state within no more than a 3 hour drive from Manhattan capable of
setting up a very simple ceremony site (few chairs, little gazebo or
just flowers wrapped around some improvised arch and a bench) on their
grounds. We would love to have a view of a river, lake or a pond for
the "I'dos" or, in absence of water, just a gorgeous non-water view
(nice pics are important otherwise we would have married in a
courthouse). The establishment of the choice should be able to
provide an official to conduct the ceremony on site (we don't care if
he/she is religious or not as long as he/she is authorized to marry in
NY state. We are not religious). The establishment should be able to
arrange for a good photographer. We don't have any other
requirements. We would prefer (but not insist on) a reasonably priced
on-site cocktail hour or brunch. Otherwise, we could just go to a
nearby restaurant after the ceremony. We would ideally prefer a place
with overnight accommodations (like B&B, inn, cottage, etc.), however,
if the place is within 1-2 hours drive (or train ride) from manhattan
it could be just a restaurant/catering facility capable of setting up
an "I do" ceremony on premises and everyone will
return home for the night. When I started my own internet search I
quickly ran into numerous wedding sites but they all seem to cater to
parties of 50 or more with a 50-75 min number of guests requirement.
Ours is a very small wedding of 10-15 people (no family members in
this country) and we can?t afford to spend more than 2,000-3,000 on the
ceremony itself and another 1,500 on the food/drinks. Overall budget
is 4,000-5,000. Some of the areas I
personally like are Hudson Valley, New Paltz. I think towns like West
Point, Tarrytown, Cold Springs are very pretty but any other ideas are
very welcome. We are open to anything. We need this info as soon as
possible. The wedding
should take place in late June and late morning/early afternoon is our
preferred time. Hopefully, this time of the day is not busy for most
establishments. Thank you very much.
