Question ID: 518231
I am looking for model numbers and ballpark pricing for 3 cisco switches.

These should be simple, unmanaged, plug and play switches. Nothing
high end or fancy. They must be Cisco though.

One should be a 10/100/1000 switch with 12 ports.
one should be a 10/100/1000 switch with 24 ports
One should be a 10/1000 switch with 24 ports.

Thanx in advnce

Hello Sherpaj,

Please clarify the statement
  "They must be Cisco"

Based on this, I assume you want something like a Catalyst 2950 switch
and not one of the Linksys ones (now part of Cisco). Please confirm.

Also, you ask for
One should be a 10/1000 switch with 24 ports
Should this be a 10/100 switch with 24 ports?

Thanks

When i said "One should be a 10/1000 switch with 24 ports." I meant 10/100.

Linksys won't work. must be labled cisco.

Hello Sherpaj,

To have the "Cisco" label alone will get you a managed switch. For example,
  Cisco 2950 (24 port 10/100 switch) runs about $700 and includes a
management interface
For comparison
Linksys (a division of Cisco Systems) EtherFast 4124 24-Port 10/100
runs about $120
If it is really worth it to your customer, I can certainly locate a
  10/100 24 port switch
  10/100/1000 24 port switch
with the Cisco label on them but the price is quite a bit higher for a
lot more capability. But if it was my money, I would buy Linksys (just
like Cisco did) and save the extra for something else.

In my searches, Cisco does not offer a 12 port switch unless it is a
high end unit with lots of capability beyond basic switching. There
used to be some, but they are "end of life" and no longer sold.

Please advise how to proceed.

Hmm. The pricing for this (SR2024) is less than the EF3512. I did a
better search of the Linksys site and there is an SR2016 (16 port) is
about $300.

Search phrases included:
  cisco 24 10/100 switch
  linksys 24 10/100 switch
  cisco 12 10/100/1000 switch
  linksys 12 10/100/1000 switch
  cisco 24 10/100/1000 switch
  linksys 24 10/100/1000 switch
to google and then using the company and model names to froogle to look up prices.

Glad to help you and I hope you work goes well.
