Question ID: 518314
I need a list of the most popular 6-12 or so "neighborhoods" for the
most popular 25 traveled cities. For example, for Boston MA USA, this
might include Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Chinatown, South End, Theatre
District, North End, Fanuel Hall, etc. To be clear-- I'm looking for
the "neighborhoods" which will be most popular for travelers, not
instead looking for county/district/etc. (E.g., for Boston, I'm not
looking for West Roxbury, Roslindale, etc.)

For each neighborhood, I need the name and geographic information
including zip code but ideally also some sort of GPS coordinates if
possible. And of course please cite the authoritative sources for
where you got this information.

Hello Nenna,

Your draft answer for NYC is perfect. You could make the descriptions
even shorter if you want. I do need all the zip codes for each
selected neighborhood. And to re-iterate, I'm looking for the most
popular 6-12 tourist areas for each of the cities I listed above.

How long do you think it would take you to get all this info? If you
are working on this, it might make sense to check in with me after a
few cities are done, just to make sure we are working to the same
expectations.

Thanks!

Paul,

Give me till the end of the day tomorrow and I'll have a few cities
done... I'll then post them here, and if we're still on the same page,
I'll get the rest done in a day or 2 and post the complete work as an
answer.

Paul-

I've got 2 cities completely done and ready for you to review. If
you're still happy, I'll proceed with the rest of them in this way.
It's taking me about an hour and 1/2 per city to dig up all the info
and get it to you, so it may take a while for the finished project. If
you give me the go-ahead, I could have this done for you by Wednesday
the 18th. Let me know your thoughts, and I'll start on this as soon as
I hear back.

Your data looks awesome. Do you think you could maintain this in an
Excel spreadsheet (instead of with flat text)? Maybe with these
columns:

- City, Neighborhood, Zip Codes, Description, URLs

Or if you want to be fancy, you could try to use
http://www.QuickBase.com but that is not really required. If you do
decide to try QuickBase, I can teach you some things about it.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul -

Unfortunatly, I can't do an Excel spreadsheet and host it on the site
here. We as reseachers have no way to do that unless we have personal
hosting, and mine is down for the moment...

Anyway, I'll report back in a week and let you know what I have, I
should be done by that time, or quite close.

Email would be easier, however, we're not loowed by our reseacher
contract or the terms of service to have contact outside of Google
Answers so we should just keep communication here....

According to our FAQ:
"Should I post my email address to Google Answers if someone asks for it?
To protect your privacy, we recommend that you not post your email
address or any other personal information about yourself on Google
Answers. The site is available for public viewing and may be indexed
and crawled by search engines. Researchers are asked to not answer
questions that contain or ask for personal contact information."

Just so you or I don't get in trouble, I'm going to ask the editors to

I'm up to 12 cities out of the 25, however, I doubt I'll have the
complete work done by Wed. like I had first hoped. It's in the works
though, so give me a extra few days and It'll be done. Between college
finals, moving, and everything else, I need about 40 hours in a day :)

Hope everything is well on your side of the computer screen.

The delay will mean we'll miss my deadline, which is ok. We'll go
ahead with other data we have, and then use your data after the fact
for checks and balances.

As to having the wonderful Google people removing my post with my
contact info-- boo hiss.

I think it sucks that they discourage direct contact. I can't stand
getting the automated emails from them saying "there is new info,
login to see it".

Heck, if I had time on my hands, I wouldn't use a service like Google Answers.

I live in an email world, I want stuff real time.

I know this ain't your problem, but alas. Let's see if they let this post stand.

Enjoy today,
Paul

I was wondering if you got my clarification on Rome, LA?

It's the only city I have left to do, but I can't post a complete
answer until I know for sure. I'll be here for the next 4 and 1/2
hours so if you get it to me in that time frame, I can post the answer
ASAP.

If not, I'll check in over the weekend every morning, and once I get a
clarification, I'll go ahead and post the answer.

If I do not hear from you by June 2nd, I'll post the answer MINUS
Rome, LA and once you get back to me with the clarification, I'll
follow up with that one city.
