Hi there,
I'm on a tight timeframe and looking for anything I can find on my
question (my expectations of what you may/may not find are low.) I'm
trying to size a market, and Google Answers has been helpful for
something like this in the past.

Background: I'm looking at the market for workgroup
publishing/workflow management software (it's software that ad firms,
publishers, graphic artists use to manage the workflow of putting
together a publication.) One of the companies that makes this product
is called Quark--their product is QPS (Quark Publishing System).

Expectations: Very low. This info will be hard to find. Whatever you
can find I need in the next few hours, so please post in chunks
(rather than all at the end)

Timeline: Anything you can find by ~1pm PST would be find.

Questions: Ideally, for each of products listed below (Companies in
parenthesis) I'm looking for any of the following data
1)How many units of this product exist in the total installed base
and/or roughly how many do they sell a year (number for any given year
is fine)?
2)How many customers to they have for this product?
3)How much revenue to they get from this product?

The products (and Companies) are as follows:
-K4 (SoftCare)
-PageWatch IQ, ProductionManager Pro (Harris and Baseview)
-PlanSystem3 (Van Gennep)
-Version Cue (Adobe) [note: this is part of the Adobe InDesign
Creative Suite... if you can't find info on Version Cue, then info on
the Creative Suite is fine]
-SmartConnection (Woodwings)
-Newsdesk (CCI Europe)
-Hermes (Unisys)
-SaxoPress (SaxoTech)
-NewSpeed (Digital Technologies)

Alterntatively, the most ideal piece of info would be an article
mentioning how large the market is for this software is, but I highly
doubt that exists.

Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate the quick turnaround and
let me know if you have any questions. -Brian

Has this been assigned a researcher yet? It says that the question is
being answered, but there's no researcher assigned... Sorry to bug,
but I need to know if I need to raise the price... thanks

If this has been taken by a researcher, please post responses in
chunks as we need the data as soon as possible.
Thanks,

Brian,

According to The Seybold Report dated October 6, 2004, Quark Publishing
System has a Customer Base of 900.

?The Quark Publishing System has had an amazingly long run. Introduced in 1992,
QPS has steadily built up a customer base that reached 900 sites last November,
according to Quark?s own statistics.?

?When it was introduced in 1992, the Quark Publishing
System carved out a market for itself as the dominant editorial system
for small and midsize magazines and newspapers, where it built
up a customer base of nearly 900 in a decade. Recently, though,
Quark has failed to keep up with technological change and despite
having just released a new version of QPS software, now faces a host
of challengers. The greatest threat looms in Quark?s area of greatest
dominance, the magazine market, from new systems by Modulo Systems
and Woodwing Software. This report on recent developments
in the editorial market covers those systems, as well as new efforts by
newspaper system suppliers to upgrade their technology to make it
more competitive.?
