Hello,

I would like to find information regarding the importing of
replacement automobile parts (not original equipment parts from the
actual car manufacturers) from China, Europe and Taiwan into the USA.
Specifically, I'm interested in importing into either the port of
Newark, New Jersey or Los Angeles, California. The types of items I'm
interested in importing are replacement parts for:

Automobile glass: Windshields, door glass, side glass, etc.
Mechanical parts: Steering racks, suspension parts, CV joints, etc.
Autobody parts: Bumpers, fenders, hoods, doors, headlamps, corner lamps, etc.

You can assume the dollar volume will be significant and the parts
will be for all types of makes and models.

My questions are info on the following:

1. Duty/tarriff rates on the above items
2. List of name, addresses and telephone numbers of clearing and
forwarding agents in the tristate NY/NJ/CT and Los Angeles area.
Also, any help on who is the biggest would be helpful.
3. General overall process on what I need to provide a clearing agent
and/or the US government to get my goods cleared. Any restrictions
that I should be aware of? Do I need to put any deposits down to
import these goods?
4. List of names, addresses, and telephone numbers (if possible) of
competing automotive wholesalers/importers (who do what I describe
above) who sell to retailers in Los Angeles and NY/NJ area with an
indication of size if possible. Please do not list auto part
retailers unless you know that they are importing from China/Taiwan
directly and not buying from a importer/wholesaler in the US who is
already setup.
5. Any type of associations/government agencies that help govern this
industry in the USA that a company who imports these types of good
should belong to or be aware of?

I understand that the request may be quite complex but any help that
anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I'll also be happy
to provide any clarification. Thanks.
