Question ID: 519647
I have lost the window for an application in Windows XP. How can I
retrieve it. When I try to make the window not-full-size it vanishes
off the upper left hand corner of my screen. Stepping through open
windows with Alt-Tab etc. doesn't work. I can geet the application in
a full-size window but that is more than it deserves. Any
suggestions?

Can you tell us which application is it?

And just a shot in the dark try by opening the Task Manager (press
together the keys Ctrl + Alt + Del) and in the Applications tab see if
the program is listed, do a right click on it and select Back to
Front.
Another try is by chacking if there is an icon in the System Tray
(beside the clock in the Start toobar) related to the program that
bring that option.

Good luck!!

The application is Microsoft Spider and bringing it to the front in
Task Manger didn't work. It has apparently rolled off the screen in
the upper left corner. I have a vague memory that there is someway to
tell the screen not to go past he visible area and I thought if I
could do that I might retrieve it. I like th eplay the game in a
smaller window. Any suggestions?

The last window state is stored in the registry. If your familiar
with "regedit" you can delete the entire key located at:

My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Spider

It will be recreated when Spider opens again with a default setting
that is now visible again.

Regedit worked like a charm! Instead of deleting all the Spider
values I just deleted the ones related to the window size, four or
five of them. I am most grateful for the help. And, it's an answer
that will apply to other anomalies that crop up. Now, back to
seriously wasting time on Spider ...
