I would like to know exactly when and why Customatix.com shut down.
(Mostly why) Mikal Peveto was Customatix's chief marketing officer and
Dave Ward was CEO. Another name for the company was Cmax.com Inc. I
would like to see a statement made by the company about why they are
no more, or a detailed article written by a 3rd party.
The other part to this question is "Are there any other comparable
companies (that made it, and are still around) that would compare to
Customatix.com, (other than reflect.com) that are based on complete
case-by-case don't-have-to-order-100 customization of products for end
consumers?

check out www.customatix_kix.com i dont know if its the same thing but
it has the same name
also you can customize shoes at www.vans.com

I talked and met with Dave shortly before they closed shop, but
haven't been able to find him since.  What do you mean by comparable
sites?  Try nikeid.com, vans.com, footjoy.com, timberland.com, etc.,
etc. For non-footwear, you might like timbuk2.com, and 1154lill.com. 
I've got dozens more if you're interested.

I need to know where I can build a pair of (non-proprietary if
possible) shoes online.
Any other type of custom-built apparel would be appreciated as well.

I'm inclined to agree that there are no sites quite like Customatix
anymore.  Nobody has the extensive list of options they offered, and
nobody has the huge number of logos and symbols that were available on
Customatix shoes.  Nike iD gets pretty close, but I do think that
nobody matches what Customatix had.
