Hi there,
From a sample of 7 million, the 1990 US census had a total of zero
people with the surname Kavoll:

Switchboard White pages, covering all unlisted numbers in the US,
found zero.

A search for the surname at AnyBirthday:

...gets a result, with the same info also being available via US
Search:

US Search adds to publicly available data (phone directories, court
records) a number of sources not usually available to the public, such
as marketing lists. AnyBirthday has info on 135 million Americans,
which is a huge sample, considering it only covers adults. They both
require payment for contact details, although a search at AnyBirthday
provides last known zip codes for free.
The Social Security Death Index, which contains details of 67 million
deceased Americans, has some results:

Some historical results are available at Ancestry.com:
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl2=allgs&gsfn=&gsln=kavoll&gspl=1%2CAny+Locality&submit=Search&gl=allgs&prox=1
From looking at the results, I have concluded that the surname is
extremely rare. People with this surname in the US are highly likely
to be related.
I hope this helps. I'm quite experienced at this type of search, and
have used the best online resources available. The amount of effort
you could put into this search in the real world is unlimited, and
bound to be quite frustrating given the rarity of the surname.
Best wishes,
