I just bought an HP zd8000. I've only been using it since March.
Everything was great for the first few weeks. Then suddenly, about 3
weeks ago, the battery stopped charging. Since the laptop is still
under warranty, and also has an extended warranty, I called HP tech
support. The diagnostic which comes with the extended warranty said
that the battery needed to be replaced. So, HP sent me a new battery.
I got the new battery, and tried to let it charge overnight. I
double checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, and
it was. The battery did not charge AT ALL. I called HP back who then
had me pack up my laptop and send it away for a new system board. Got
it back about a week later, and I still have the same problem. I am
thinking it may be the adapter or they've sent me yet another bad
battery. The light that says it's charging ony stays lit for a few
minutes, and then starts flashing after that. Also, the adapter seems
to get very hot. I tried to take my adapter into Radio Shack to get
it tested since Radio Shock is supposed to be authorized to do that.
I was then informed that they have to mail everything away anyway,
that they cannot test it on site. This is a brand new laptop. I do
not want to send it away to get the battery issue fixed. I have spent
a couple of hours on the phone with tech support all ready and lost my
damn laptop for a week and I am frustrated that HP still has not been
able to solve this problem. Is there anything else I can do to maybe
fix this myself so I don't have to send my laptop away again? And
yes, I have calibrated the battery. I'll have to look up the battery
to see what kind/how many cells it is. I do know that it is a lithium
ion battery. |
