Question ID: 520603
I have not successfully been able to figure out: 1) If Jimmy Buffett
has released a CD with "(I-95) The Asshole Song"; and 2) what that CD
title is, if there is one.
I would appreciate most getting the name of the CD with the song on
it,so I can buy it, but would accept an address or something similar
to download it. I do NOT need the lyrics! Thanks for any help! Diane

Hi 1skee,

Researchers are not allowed to link to possible proprietary
property... Here's a link to a really cool page with all sorts of
funny and unusual sound files.

Scroll down a bit to find a surprise. I checked it, it works.

Happy listening...

Here's a version of the song as performed by "Slippery Dick."

"I have in my hand a 45 record with above mentioned song. The artist
is "August & the Spur of the Moment Band". The song was written by
Fred "August" Campbell and is on Pantera Records and released in 1983.
Also it was recorded at Ocean Sound Studios in Ft.Lauderdale, Fla. and
engineered by Mike Couzzi. Pantera Records is located at 3081
N.W.24st.Miami Fla. 33142. I hope that helps you out because nobody
seems to know who the artist was. I am a D.J. at a local bar and that
song used to be requested. That question came up in a trivia contest
and they said it was Jimmy Buffett. He might have recorded it but he
was not the original artist."

I'm guessing from what I'm reading that Jimmy Buffett never recorded
this officially - but it's hard to prove a negative...

A) Thanks for the link; at least it helps me imagine what Buffett's
version probably sounds like.

B) Yes, I googled that site, also. Thanks.

I agree it is hard to prove a negative. But I will increase the fee
for someone to dig deeper!

I truly do not think Jimmy Buffett has recorded this song. Although
people persist in attributing the song to him, he definitely did not
write it, and I suspect that the version which is sometimes attributed
to Jimmy Buffett may be that of David Allan Coe.

I have an MP3 of this song that a friend burned for me...Jimmy
performed the song live, and it was recorded live at a show somewhere.
I think it's of an older vintage (around 1980). It is not on any of
his recorded studio albums. That's about all I know.

Heard this song years ago on a juke box in Niagara Falls, NY. The
listed artist was Jimmy Buffet. Recently heard the song on the radio,
and was able to tape it on cassette. Also have the chord structure(
E,A,D) and lyrics for the song.
