Question ID: 521012
I need to know about chemical called sulfur, this chemical may be made
with different purity for example: 99.9% or 99.999% or even 99.99999%
so I have a question about ?Sulfur with 99.99999%? purity. I?m
interested to know what countries and what companies on world market
have chemical that corresponds to my requirements for sale and by what
price (please give a links) also would like to know in what industries
this chemical used, for example: metal and fiber industries (when
doing ?detailed description? what) or chipset manufacturing (when
doing ?detailed description? what).

PS. if you need more information about this chemical I found following
link: http://www.answers.com/topic/sulfur?method=6

Please let me know if you need any more detailed breakdown in this question.

Thanks. Nick Serhiyenko.

Hello Nick,

I understand your concern. The reason is that the information
requested is harder to find than it seems. If you have a deadline,
please let me know. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Guillermo

Hello Nick,

Thanks for your help. I've been reviewing the website you posted, but
as long as you stand by your original request it wouldn't be in the
right track, since the highest purity that they offer is 99.5%. The
99.99999% purity level that your're requiring is precisely the
challenging point in this search. As to when I would end, I hope that
by the end of today I'll have a definition.

Sincerely,

Guillermo

Hello Nick,

I promised you a definition by the end of today, so here it is. This
is the situation: After intense search, I could only find one
reference on a provider for 99.99999% purity sulfur. Now, if you are
also interested in lower but still high 99.9+ purity levels (.99,
.999) there are more references to include in the answer. Please let
me know if this interests you. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Guillermo

identifiable-ga,

Sulfur with "five nines" purity (a reference to the number of nines
after the decimal place) would likely find use mostly in a laboratory
setting -- I'm not aware of any industrial processes that require that
level of purity.

Are you looking for a supplier of laboratory-quantity amounts (grams
or kilograms) are are you looking for a large-volume supplier of this
ultra-pure material?

Let us know, please.

Hello Nick,

I've found a significant number of providers for 99.9+ purity sulfur
and one provider who claims 99.99999 purity level. I also have the
information you requested about the uses of this chemical. Please let
me know if this information meets your needs to post an apropriate
answer. Thanks,

Guillermo

Hello Everyone,

Let me make it easier for all of as, I will split my question into
several subsections

1.	I need to know about chemical called Sulfur, this chemical may be
made with different purity for example: 99.9% or 99.999% or even
99.99999%, So I have a question about Sulfur with 99.99999% purity
ONLY!!! (not - 99.9 or 99.9+)

2.	I?m interested to know what countries and what companies on the
world market have chemical that corresponds to my requirements of
(99.99999%) for sale and what is the price?

3.	also I would like to know in what industries this chemical used,
for example: metal and fiber industries ? Example (when doing
(detailed description) what) or chipset manufacturing (when doing
(detailed description) what)

4.	Following is the link to the chemical I talk about but the article
I appointed not talking about 99.99999% purity I couldn?t find
detailed description for that one!

If its easer for you to understand these 4 sub questions as four
question then you can split the price by 4 and get $50.00 per each
answer. But if some one can find all four answers he will get $200.00.

PS I - if you found information about this chemical that you think
worth more then $200.00 dollars let me know and we can negotiate.

PS II ? Guillermo ? just make sure you have answers to all sub
question and you can give it to me with the detailed information as I
requested then you can post an answer.

Sulfur atoms arrange in 3 major orientations. Alpha which is an
orthotohmbic crystal that occurs when sulfur atoms arrange in an eight
membered ring. They have amber colored crystals that are stable at
room temperature. When these crystals are heated they become opaque
because the atoms are reaagarnging into the second form of sulfur
called Beta-Sulfur. This type of sulfuric crystals are formed by
heating Alpha-sulfur and slowly allowing it to cool. This creates a
monoclinic crystalline structure again organized in eight membered
rings. As the Alpha-sulfur is cooled they may also reorganize into a
rhombic structure creating opaque-light yellow needle like crystals.
The third type of sulfur is Gamma-Sulfur and is often referred to as
Mother-of-pearl sulfur. This is just another configuration of the
monoclinic rings.

The highest grade of sulfur is used in the creation of polymeric
sulfur somethimes called Crystex. This polymer is an amorphous solid
that is metastable but eventually returns to the alpha-sulfur form.
Crystex is often used as an industiral lubricant and sealant. It is
often used in the vulcanization of rubbers
<http://www.flexsys.com/internet/pages/frame_products.htm>. The
polymerized sulfur is usually used in biological test applications
because of the impeccable purity. In large scale produtions lower
quality 99.9% is usually used because of cost.

Here is a large list of chemical companies that supply various grades
of sulfur solid. <http://www.buyersguidechem.de/AcasAus.php>

This company based in Germany specializes in hard to find chemicals
such as the purity of sulfur you are looking for. The search requires
you know the CAS for sulfur.

Sigma Aldrich offers a wide variety of sulfur purities including purity >99.999%.

They also offer anaylitical grade sulfur which has a mean purity of 100%

Alrich also offers other forms of reagent grade sulfur such as powder or flakes
