I have a maple kitchen table and it becamed stained when I left a cooked piece of corn on the cob steaming hot, on top of the table on a piece of paper toweling. Unfortunately, the table was stained with a white heat mark and I would like to know how to remove this stain. Someone suggested that mayonnaise rubbed into the stain will help to remove the stain. It didn't work. Help! What can I do? |

Don't we all do it - at least once :) here are a few suggestions, including the mayo: http://web1.msue.msu.edu/msue/iac/disasterresp/HomeImprovement/e1045.pdf (scroll down to III ) http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf480173.tip.html http://www.sunsinger.org/wellness/cleaning.php (about half way down) the mayo came up a couple of times more, once with the clarification: "not just sandwich spread". Good luck |

Mayo shouldn't hurt the wood. I would also try rubbing a piece of walnut meat into the stain. You could also use the type of polish used to remove marks on antique and vintage furniture; it's usually sold in the paint/stain section of home improvement stores. Kriswrite |
