Hi mama2-ga:
To answer your first question, there are boat manufacturer listings
available on the web. The best one I was able to find was at Boat
Owner's World:
http://www.boatowners.com/boatmfg_listing.htm
http://www.boatowners.com/speed_boats.htm
Another decent listing is at AeroMarine Research:
http://www.aeromarineresearch.com/powerboats-links3.htm#Boat
Manufacturers
Or you could try MarineWaypoints.com:
http://www.marinewaypoints.com/sites/index.php?ParentID=4
However, the problem with these listings is that they don't tell you
whether the manufacturer makes boats of the size you are looking for.
You have to go through them one at a time.
Doing that browsing for you, I was able to find the following
manufacturer of large speedboats in Florida:
1. "Magnum Marine" (http://www.magnummarine.com/index.html)
makes 70'
80'
and 90'
models.
Their boats seem to be more designed for personal use than commercial
use (e.g., they have several staterooms), but from looking at their
website, I'd bet they could be convinced to customize an interior
design to hold more people. If you truly want to hold 85 passengers,
I'd suggest you go with the 90' option. I'm not sure the smaller
versions could be fitted to hold that many people.
They also sell used models of their own manufacture at:
http://www.magnummarine.com/brokerage/brokerage_fr.html
though they don't sem to have any currently available in the larger
sizes.
Their contact info is:
Magnum Marine
2900 Northeast 188 Street
Aventura, Florida 33180
USA
Telephone +1 (305) 931.4292
Facsimile +1 (305) 931.0088
Telex 6811630
Email sales@magnummarine.com
I was unable to find any other Florida manufacturers (commercial or
pleasure) making speedboats in that size.
I hope this is of help to you in your search. If I can clarify
anything for you before you rate this answer, please ask me through
the Clarification feature. I'm happy to help.
Thanks.

In looking for this speedboat, my needs are actually for 40-85
PASSENGERS (seated). These needs will be for commercial runs to & from
designated areas.
Perhaps this clarification can provide me with different sites!
Thank u for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi mama2-ga:
Does it matter to you what type of fast boat you get? Given your
original question, I was just looking for traditional speedboat
designs. Could it be any one of a speedboat, a catamaran, a jetfoil,
etc., etc.? If you are open to these options, then I might be better
able to find things for you...
Do you have a minimum speed in mind that the boat would have to do?
Are there any other parameters that you simply *must* have other than
length (65'+) and passenger capacity (85)?
Sorry for the confusion.

Please don't apologize, I wasn't clear enough!! In response to your
question, my needs are a boat, approximately 60-85' in length, with a
beam of at least 18-20'. The speeds we need are a minimum top speed of
40mph. Seated passenger capacity approximately 40-85 passengers. This
boat will be for commercial use with daily runs from point to point.
Thanks again and I also apologize for the confusion.
(Thus far, you guys are TERRIFIC!!!!!!)

Also, the manufacturer does not have to be limited to Florida, any
EAst Coast manufacturer will do.
THANX!!!

Hi Mama2-ga:
Well, I just spent another two hours searching diligently, and I must
say I'm *stumped*. :-(
I've tried catamarans, hydrofoils, hovercraft, jetfoils, high-speed
craft.
I've tried combining these terms with "passenger" and "ferry". I've
surfed through endless link lists.
I am still unable to find a boat that fits your description.....
Some of the problems I think you're facing:
1. Not all boat manufacturers appear to have a web presence. There may
be other ways to find out about such manufacturers, but I'm not sure
of them. (Telephoning would be expensive for me, I'm not in the U.S.)
2. Most of the manufacturers of high-speed commercial passenger boats
seem to be based in the Pacific Rim. Washington State, Alaska, and
Australia seemed to have many companies (though I didn't research them
closely, since they were out-of-range).
3. Most of the commercial high-speed boats I found were either for
less than 20 passengers or more than 100. It was hard to find anything
in between.
I am disappointed that I was not able to provide you with more
concrete help. Please feel free to rate this answer appropriately
and/or ask for a refund.
websearcher-ga:
Just a few of the searches I tried include:
high-speed craft
passenger "high speed craft"
"high speed" passenger boats
"passenger ferry" manufacturers
passenger catamaran manufacturers
passenger hydrofoil manufacturers
passenger jetfoil manufacturers
passenger hovercraft manufacturers
florida "speed boat" manufacturers

I have just ONE MORE request for you, and you can then rest assure
that I will be paying in full & giving you a high rating!! I certainly
DON"T have the patience to do this, and that is why I "hired" you!!!!
How about trying sights with the word "yacht" in it?? Any boat over
40' in length is technically considered a yacht!
Willing to try it again???????????????
Thanx for all your time & help

Hi mama2-ga:
I certainly wil give it a try. It'll just be a few hours from now.
(Gotta go out and run some errands.) However, most of the yachts I've
seen are fitted for pleasure vs. commercial use. I'll see if I can
find any "passenger yachts" that go fit your criteria.
Thanks for your understanding. It's been a pleasure working for you.
:-)
Watch this space for further updates.

Hi mama2-ga:
Well, I spent some time looking for "yachts" that fit your criteria.
The only thing I was able to find was a company called Tom Fexas Yacht
Design, Inc., out of Stuart, Florida. They've been designing custom
yachts (sometimes high-speed) since 1966. Their website is at:
http://www.tomfexas.com/
A listing of their vessels currently in service can be found at:
http://www.tomfexas.com/projects.htm
and includes some high-speed ferries and other boats that might have
also been used for commercial purposes. (And that seem to fit your
criteria.)
A description of their design process (and how they handle custom
orders) can be found at:
http://www.tomfexas.com/design_process.htm
I'd suggest contacting them directly. If they can't help you, then
they can likely point you in the direction of non-web sources of
information. Their contact info is:
TOM FEXAS YACHT DESIGN, INC.
1320 S Federal Hwy Suite 104
Stuart FL 34990 USA
Phone: (561) 287-6558
Fax: (561) 287-1998
E-Mail: mailto:info@tomfexas.com
Thanks again for the challenging research problem!
