Question ID: 521791
How do I turn off the print notification window that opens up when a
document prints? This small window is attached to the system tray and
requires an extra mouse click to close it otherwise it stays open for
as long as 10 seconds. I am not sure if it is a feature of the HP
printer driver or a feature of Windows XP Professional. My printer is
HP Photosmart 8150.

Hi flyingopossum,

Try this and let me know if it works:

1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar.
2. Click "Printers and Faxes."
If your Start Menu is in Classic mode, you will need to click
"Settings" and then "Printers and Faxes."
3. Click the File menu in the Printer and Faxes window that appeared.
4. Click "Server Properties."
5. Click the Advanced tab in the Print Server Properties window that appeared.
6. Uncheck "Show informational notifications for local printers."
This will disable notification messages for printers directly
connected to the computer.
7. Uncheck "Show informational notifications for network printers."
This will disable notification messages for printers that are shared
on the network.
8. Uncheck "Notify when remote documents are printed."
9. Click "OK" in the Print Server Properties window.
10. Close the Printers and Faxes Window

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Rainbow

I am a computer maniac. I have owned over 30 computers in the past 25
years. I sleep among my home network, literally. I was a professional
programmer for 25 years (the first 15 years as a mainframe
programmer). I have graduated to the status of user after 25 years of
experience. I am now a commercial website owner and webmaster. I sell
silver bullion on the net.

I am pleased to say that you have pointed me to a page of which I was
unaware (the file menu of the Printers and Faxes page) - no easy
task.

It works.

thanks.
