Does Jimmy Choo make shoes with a black label on the insole as well as
standard white insole label. I have seen a pair of second hand Jimmy
Choos and wonder if they are from the Courture range or his early
work.

I think that 'Jimmy Choo' is (or more accurately was) actually female.

My take is that it is just a retail 'brand'

Jimmy Choo shoes began with just Jimmy Choo in 1987. He is male and a
shoe designer from Malaysia who know holds an OBE for his shoes.

He began making bespoke, made to measure shoes. For people like
Princess Di, Princess Caroline of Monacco etc.

The 'brand' began in 1996. Still handmade shoes but ready to where not
courture made to measure. Jimmy Choo himself left a few years later,
though he still holds shares.

However **he** still makes bespoke, made to measure shoes for private
clients. Just as he did before the company/brand with Tamara Yeardye
was founded.

The shoes I have seen may be from the period before he founded the
company with Yeardye or may be from his more recent bespoke service to
private clients. Or they may be fakes.

What I want to know is if he ever used a black label before the
company was founded, or if he uses a black label now or if the 'brand'
has ever used a black label.

Thanks but I have got the answer I called the Jimmy Choo boutique in
Knightsbridge and they are pre 1997 made to measure in England couture
shoes and therefore worth a bomb. I live in the UK and have seen BBC
programmes, including a documentary about Jimmy Choo and the BBC news
when he collected his OBE.  There is nothing phoney about this company
or Jimmy Choo.
