Question ID: 522251
We are using Maximizer 7 as our contact manager/database. We are
running Windows XP, and have purchased licenses to use it on 4 pc's.
We are using windows networking TCP/IP peer-to-peer. We have all our
data files saved on our "server". However, incorporated into Maximizer
and it's Pervasive SQL data base server is the concept of a "gateway",
and somehow two of our desktops serve as gateways for some of the
data. This means that these desktops always have to run in order for
all users to have access to all the data. I would prefer to have one
gateway--the server--for all data. Can anyone help us with this ?

Hello,

Could you let me know what country you're in. Also, I know of a way,
if you have the product registered legally, that you can get support
for your product, which will walk you through your issue. Would you
accept that as an answer? it's a paid support service for the product.

As a question clarification, I am in Canada. Maximizer offers paid
support, but I have used it in the past with less than satisfactory
results. My plan was that if I did not get a precise answer from one
of the Google researchers, I was going to contact Maximizer again.
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

I'm not familiar with Maximizer, and I was able to locate information
in regards to Maximizer 6, but not 7, however the setup for the
gateways might be the same.

To assign the gateway computer, locate the Gateway Locator
Utility found in:

Start > Programs > Maximizer Enterprise folder
? or ?
Start > Programs > Pervasive > Pervasive 2000 SQL > Utilities
folder

5. Using the Target Directory browse button to locate each
database folder that will be hosted by the gateway computer,
and then click the Change button to assign the gateway.
If the Change button is disabled, a Btrieve workgroup engine is
accessing the database. Close any copies of Maximizer that have
the database open and reboot those machines if necessary to
allow the gateway to be changed.

6. After assigning the gateway computer, install the license disk on
a computer with Maximizer installed. We recommend you install
the licensing on the gateway computer.

7. After installing the license disk, apply the licensing to the
database(s) you want to share. To do this, run Maximizer on the
computer with the licensing installed. If you?ve enabled security,
log in as the Master user.

It?s often convenient to install the licensing on every computer
with Maximizer installed. It is just as important to log in as the
Master user and open the database on a computer with the
licensing installed in order to apply the licensing.

I hope this helps you resolve your problem, good luck.
