A bond in this case is a guarantee of his performance. It means that
when he says he'll do something, he'll do it right. A bond is not
insurance, and in most cases, you will not ever have any sort of bond
claim against a competent contractor. If he falls on your roof, that
will be a workers' comp claim for him. It will not be anything that
your insurance covers. You are not liable for a worker that you've
hired to perform work on your house. Put your fears to rest and just
hire the man to clean your gutters.

Bonded contractors are more expensive than unbonded ones. You should
investigate the bonding agency the contactor uses for further
information. Basically, the contractor is genuinely guaranteeing his
work.

I works like a bonded courier. If the courier absconds with the
valuables being conveyed, then the bonding agency recompenses you.
