I suppose this is a challenging application: let's suppose we want to
record a long-distance conversation or animal sound in noisy
environment (for legitimate reasons or just for a scientifical
experiment).
The noisy environment is very noisy: let's suppose we're on a cliff or
on the beach shore: wind and waves rumbling.
The conversation or the sound we would like to record is about 30/50
metres away, not so far indeed, but with all that noise no words can
be heard by an unaided hear.
Animals or humans have no fixed location, so it's just impossible to
place omni-directional microphones next to target and transmit voice
or sound using a RF transmitter.
The way to go would be perhaps directional microphones or parabolic ones.
Other than that, other techniques might be available (laser pointer of some sort ?)
For directional or parabolic microphones the answer should:
- Describe different kind of products, manufacturer, characteristics and prices.
- Describe which models is more appropriate for the application and
tell the reasons
- Provide links to on-the-field recordings to show how instruments
like directional or parabolic microphones help in a noisy environment,
making a comparison with a omni-direction microphones. In other words
the answer should somehow prove that these instruments could record
voices or sounds in such a noisy enviroment where a human hear cannot
hear them
- Make a comparison of this application with the "standard" problem of
recording footbal player's voices in a stadium.
- For the stadium problem, give details about the tecniques used, the
products availables and the prices. Tell if applicable or not to the
"wild like" application and why.
- Give links to manufacturer or retailers. If available links to
catalogs, prices and order form.
The answer should explore other possibility and techniques (if available). |
