You can use the printscreen feature on your computer to print out any
map rendered on your screen, also, you can order professional copies

thanks for the information, the web site you mention is almost what I
like but what I want is, I can chose any place in the world and
immediately zoom in to a city (no need to fill up the city, street &
area code) until the streets is clearly shown....something like the
NASA Word Wind 1.3 but too bad this program can zoom up to 10,000
meters less than this altitude all is blurred....

Thanks for the reply. I didn't check NASA's World Wind 3D-Viewer, but
I have one more idea...

Terra Server
http://www.terraserver.com/

After an initial click on a World Map, you are asked to select one of
these choices:

Search By
- Coordinates (Latitude & Longitude)
- City (United States)
- City (International)
- Zip Code
- County
- Address

Note, the entire Earth is NOT covered...

Let me know if this is satisfactory...

Thanks Cynthia, I have log in to http://www.terraserver.com/ and tried
to zoom in the city at 15 meters. At 15 meters, I believe the streets
must have been very clearly shown, surprisingly, what I saw, the photo
looks like its over ten thousand meters...

1) Many US county web sites have this ability, usually located in the
County's Tax Assessor's page...

2) This link might help:

Web GIS and Interactive Mapping Sites
http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/GIS/intergis.html

3) There are affordable short time duration subscription rates at the
TerraServer which allow you to zoom in:
http://www.terraserver.com/subscribe/subscribe.asp
I think I read that correctly...

7 days costs $9.95:

..." All subscriptions include the following benefits:

    * The ability to zoom in under 8 meters (the free level) down to
the full resolution of the source image. The maximum resolution is
dependent on the quality of the camera that was used when
photographing an area.
    * Link to see free topographical map. You can also download and
print these topo maps for free. Please note that topo maps are
available only for the United States.
    * My Favorites: The ability to "bookmark" images with hyperlinks
back to the original image and custom description of your choice.
    * Magnification Feature: Click on a spot on the image and see a
200x200 snapshot of it at full resolution in a popup window.
    * Measurement Tools: Click on the image and measure either distance or area..."

If you just want to poke around, this won't interest you, however if
you have a project with a deadline, this might help.

Thank you Cynthia for more additional info. I don't know if you have
tried download World Wind 1.3 from download.com, in this program its
very easy to use since all you do is point to any place in the world,
(not limited to USA) zooming in or out is efortless, the downside is
not close enough to see the streets level.

I tried to log in at http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/GIS/intergis.html
but regret to say can't log in...thanks

There is a really eyes-popping site that does let you zoom in
photographically on virtually any place, but you do have to pay for
it. But I can't find the email with the link-

The site myoarin is referring to is www.keyhole.com.

It was recently bought by Google who have reduced the annual
subscription fee to $29.95. It really is an awesome site and one of
the few actually worth paying for imho.

Don't take my word for it. Check it out yourself - 7 day free trial available.

Speaking of Keyhole; it will soon become Google Earth.

Chi888,
The problem is that as you zoom in too close, the definition has to deteriorate.
One such website defined one yard to a pixel, which is still pretty
fantastic when you consider were the satelite is, but on an 800 by 600
pixel monitor (less if the image isn't full screen) things have got to
get blurred.
