thanks a lot guys, but is there any way to make sure that the person
is actually sitting and working in that bank other than making a
personal visit to the bank and seeing the person there, bearing in
mind the trouble and the expenses to take to travel there? ? why can't
a bank confirms a mr so and so works there when asked by emails? it
only remains silent. thanks again

My advice? Find the bank's website and then find their phone number.
DO NOT use a URL or number given to you by this person. Call them and
explain the situation to them. If they confirm it, good. If they say
it isn't so or refuse to confirm/deny it, then don't deal with this
person.

Even if you can verify (by calling the bank) that someone of a certain
name is an employee of the bank, keep in mind that this does not prove
that the individual you've been dealing with over the Internet is the
same person. I can tell you over the Internet that I am Donald Trump,
but that doesn't make it true.

If this is anything to do with a large financial transaction
- for which you must pay an up front fee
- then be very, very careful

Or even a smaller transaction and he wants your bank account number ...!

Call the bank and ask to speak to the person. Then explain to him that
you saw his name on the internet and you wish to confirm that he is
that person.
If you cannot get through to the person in the first place or the person does
not fully confirm their link to the internet site, then forget whatever
it is that you wish to do.
Forget e-mails. They are much too unreliable for this type of situation.

Further to my last comment. If it is one of the major clearing UK banks
(barclays, Nat West, Bank of Scotland, HSBC,LLOyds) you may encounter
an elaborate telephone menu. However eventually you should be able to
talk to a
"live person" who will be able to track down the individual in
question (if he exists)

You should contact the bank in any case, directly, since it should be
interested in any use of its name.
