That quoted term is given to Bob Metcalfe, who coined it in an article June 21, 1999, suggesting that Linux will never win over Win2k. Scott McNealy may have said it, but it doesn't look like he said it in print. Though it sounds like something he might say, or repeat often. With this article in the USA Today Money Section, it looks like things are a bit different from the time of the Bob Metcalfe 1999 opinion. http://www.usatoday.com/usatonline/20020805/4333165s.htm Links : User Friendly http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20010610 InfoWorld page http://www.infoworld.com/articles/op/xml/99/06/21/990621opmetcalfe.xml ERCB: Internet Collapes http://www.ercb.com/brief/brief.0224.html Slashdot Article on same paper. http://slashdot.org/articles/99/06/21/126233.shtml webadept-ga |
