Thank you, that is helpful. I forgot to mention that I am particularly
interested in a study that was referred to in the Star Tribune (of
Minnesota I think)and that said the classical music audience was
growing. I don't have the author of the article or the date
unfortunately but it came up in one of my Google searches.

Greetings! While not able to answer your question to my satisfaction,
I did discover a few leads for your perusal. You may be able to
ascertain your own rough statistics from the information I discovered.

From "RIAA Releases 2001 Consumer Profile"
"Jazz and Classical music increased their standing in the market
slightly with 3.4 percent of all music items purchased being in the
Jazz genre, while 3.2 percent of music items were Classical music."

Online Radio Listenership Doubles in US (radio listening survey):
"The report found that visitors to radio Web sites are most interested
in accessing information on community events (70 percent), concert
information (69 percent), information on titles and artists (61
percent) and listening to the station (59 percent). Listeners are also
interested in accessing information on advertisers' products (53
percent), printing coupons from advertisers (48 percent), buying
products and services directly from the station Web site (42 percent)
and linking to advertisers' Web sites (40 percent).

Internet usage is highest among core listeners of alternative rock (91
percent), chart music (68 percent), classical music (68 percent),
religious music (54 percent). This is followed by adult contemporary
(52 percent), news/talk (50 percent), oldies (49 percent), rock (48
percent), jazz (46 percent) and country music (33 percent)."

I hope this information assists you in your quest.

Thank You,
You have been very helpful indeed and found both the report and the
article. I suppose I'll have to complete the study myself and actually
find it revealing that it doesn't exist.
