How many psychiatrists in the US? By States, which has most,least in
absolute numbers and per capita. I also would like to know the number
of psychologist, social workers, family/marital counsellors. For these
just total for US is fine. Is there a reference source for this kind
of data? Thank You.

On page 4 of this document there is a table called "Mental Health
Providers Per 100,000 Population, Arrayed by State Per Capita Income."
It provides state-by-state data on the numbers of psychiatrists, child
psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers:

The World Health Organization's Mental Health Atlas 2005 gives these
figures for the entire USA:

"Per 100,000 population 

Number of psychiatrists     13.7 
Number of neurosurgeons      1.6 
Number of psychiatric nurses 6.5 
Number of neurologists       4.5 
Number of psychologists     31.1 
Number of social workers    35.3"
