How do i get a wireframe render of a 3ds model, without showing objects on the other side of things? i.e., if the image is of a box in front of a sphere the program will render the entire spere and the entire box (when in actual fact the camera can't see the sphere, the box should be in the way) This makes for very confusing renders! (if there is a method of rendering the visable lines of the wireframe at the same time as textures, that would also be an acceptable solution.) |

One way would be to duplicate the object, and then shrink it to 99% of its original size. Put the wireframe material on the original object, and the background color (like black or white) on the smaller object. |

good idea, the problem is that wireframe is a render setting, not a material, and you cant render some things in wireframe and some not (so far as i know) of course if this was possable i would be very happy. |

I use 3d studio max 5 and wireframe is a material. make a standard material, and then there should be a check box that says wireframe. a better (but slightly different than you want) would be to duplicate the object, call it object 2. apply the wireframe material to object 1. then make a double-sided material, with the facing side 0% opacity, and the back side whatever color you want. apply this material to object 2. |
