Hi,

I would like to know when the earliest disputes regarding the
historicity of the Crucifixion of Jesus arose.

For example according to texts such as Early Christian Doctrines (JND
Kelly) some early Christians denied that the Crucifixion happened.

In particular I am interested to know if there were any known disputes
primarily in the first century but also in the second century as well.

I would like references and dates if possible.

Thank you.

I think this reference will be able to give you a detailed discussion
about your question. The name of the book is "Jesus - A Prophet of
Islam" by Muhammad Ataur-Rahim. It costs $8.00 and is available from
the following website:

http://www.icnabookservice.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IBS&Product_Code=11.27&Category_Code=11

One of the unique features of this book is the fact that it is not a
biased Muslim's view; rather the author draws on resources only from
the works of the earlist Christian writers and most references can be
found in the Public Libraries of UK.

Another book that is worth looking into is "The Gospel of Barnabas"
which is available from Amazon.com available at the following link:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1881316157/ref=pd_sxp_elt_l1/102-3039146-7265760

I hope this was helpful

Thanks for the references. I'll look into the book you mentioned but I
don't place much weight on the Gospel of Barnabas because it's an
obvious forgery.

I have however found historical sources that prove that there were
people who disputed the crucifixion from at least the late 1st
century. You can find references to them in Ignatius' epistles written
roughly at the turn of the 1st century / early 2nd century.
