Hello gweimui-ga,

I've found several possible meanings for the acronym SIET. What it
stands for depends on where you're located, i.e., it has a geographic
designation element. Also, could you please explain the context where
you've found/used this term? I look forward to your clarification.

I am located in New York and was at a special education conference
where someone referred to themselves as a SIET or maybe it was SEIT.
I haven't heard the term before and I would like to know what that

Hello gweimui-ga,

SEIT stands for Special Education Itinerant Teacher, and is an acronym
in wide use in special education programs throughout New York State.

You can find a brief description of a SEIT here:

-----
http://www.shenet.org/district/studentservices/sehandbook/sehdbk_definitions.htm
Parent's Handbook for Students with Special Needs
A Parent's Dictionary

Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) ? a preschool special
education teacher who provides direct and indirect service in regular
programs or a child?s home for students ages three and four.

and a considerably more detailed description of SEIT services here:

------
http://www.theracare.com/services.html#special
TheraCare

TheraCare's Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) program
provides special education services to children three to five years of
age who are experiencing difficulties in one or more of the following
areas:

Cognitive/Preacademic Skills
Communication Skills
Social and Emotional Development
Self-Help/Adaptive Skills
Fine and Gross Motor Skills

SEIT services are available to eligible children, without cost to the
parent, through the families' local Board of Education as mandated by
the child's Individualized Educational Program (IEP). Services are
provided in the child's natural environment and are available
throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester County, and
Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Locations where services may be provided
include the following:

ACD Day Care Centers
Private Day Care Centers
Nursery Schools
Head Start Programs
The Child's Home
Public Schools

TheraCare's teachers are certified by the New York State Education
Department as Special Education Teachers and receive ongoing
supervision and training by experienced clinical supervisors.
Supervisors do not take cases so that their full attention is devoted
to clinical supervision, which is provided on a frequent basis at the
location where the child receives services. Clinical supervisors are
available for clinical support and as a resource to both parents and
professionals

meet your needs in terms of the information you're after. However,
please don't rate this answer until you are fully satisified with it.
