My twin daughters are just finishing middle school next month, and are
uber-smart (yes, I'm biased, but they also are scarily smarter than I
am). I know there are lots of online distance learning courses and
degree programs now, but haven't figured out how to find ones that
might give college credit to them before they have their highschool
diplomas (I have heard of running start, but don't think they can get
into that until they're at least officially in 9th grade, and they're
eager to try a class or two over the summer). They're both tracking
for ivy league universities when they're done with high school, but
would love to try out some online courses now if they can. Would be
happy to pay a bonus if you can find something from a reputable
school! Their areas of greatest interest are Math, Science,
Technology and Visual Arts...

btw - we're in the Seattle area (the girls go to Forest Ridge, and all
girls Sacred Heart school in south Belleuve), on the off chance
there's distance learning associated with nearby schools...

Check out the DL departments in the community college system. Lake
Forest, South Seattle, etc offer online courses for credit and
non-credit. Despite the desire to seek an Ivy League school, one
should become fammiliar with online learning and the demands of it
before tackling a course for credit.
