My roommate and I have a disageement which we'd like to you settle:

Has poker player Chris "jesus" Ferguson ever sliced through
(1) a banana and [separately] a (2) carrot, by throwing a playing card
across the room to hit the food and slice it? So long as the card is
not metal, and it leaves his hand, and the banana/carrot was not
pre-cut, cooked, rotten, etc., consider the answer "yes" ... point to
reasonably conclusive evidence, so we can settle this argument.

Ferguson was featured doing so on a TV poker show, with a segment called "the
nuts", but my detractor never saw it and says "impossible". Dont tell
us that he CAN do it, show us that he HAS done it (no illusion or
tricks). Streaming video would be great, but give us enough so that
another third party can settle the dispute with your evidence either
way.

We realize that proving that the carrot was not rigged may be a
stretch, but at least porvide suggestive evidence that he claims to
have done this already and that it is physically plausible to have
been done without tricks.

This should be easy, since he is famous for this skill.

Hi moneywheremouthis,

Although I was unable to locate a video clip of this, please let me
know if the following is proof enough that this has indeed been done
and aired:

When are the nuts not the nuts?

"When you're watching the feature called "The Nuts" during ESPN's
World Series of Poker coverage. At first I was enthused about these
60-second interludes that showed something quirky or weird about
poker. A chance to see something different, something that might make
you pause and say, "Hmm". No such luck.

Last year we saw Chris "Jesus" Ferguson slice a banana by throwing a
playing card. Impressive. Then this year we saw him slice a carrot.
OK. Then on another episode we saw him slice a pickle..."

Well, I was looking for some proof that his claims are not trickery,
and that it could plausibly be not an illusion. But here is more:

http://forums.livingwithstyle.com/t119819-throwing-cards.html

but here is the video:
http://www.ricksmithjr.com/media/video/

so, I will consider the question answered, and pay you (I am new, but
I will assume it will be obvious on what to do)

Obviously, the video is not the poker guy, but the 9 minute long video
goes into enough detail to show that it is real.

The thing that is confusing me about this whole thing, is that i saw
an episode of Myth Busters, where they declared that a lethal playing
card was impossible. It seems like if Chris Ferguson could cut
through something as thick as a carrot with a playing card, he would
probably be able to throw it lethally (for instance, aim it at the
jugular). Also, on the show, the myth busters built a machine that
could throw cards, and even though it could shoot the cards out at
extreme speeds, it still wasn't able to inflict all that much damage.
Does anyone know what "Jesus" is doing that the myth busters weren't
doing.
