Another more recent one, is Algoma Steel Corp. (ASI) Denis Turcotte has taken the company from the brink of extintion (under bankruptcy protection just 5 years ago). Their last quarter EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amatorization) was $157.8M, making this the 5th quarter in a row with a sales increase. |

The classic, text book case of a CEO taking dramatic action was when Bill Gates realized in 1995 that the internet had surfaced as a major business tool, and that Netscape had market domination. He worried Netscape could threaten his empire and pulled all workers off non-urgent tasks, hired others and set out to wrest control of the browser business from Netscape. He all but destroyed Netscape and Explorer remains the browser of choice for the western world. http://news.com.com/2009-1032-995681.html |
