The California Board of Equalization maintains the Sales and Use Tax
statutes and regulations. The first link below is a general listing.
The second link, containing the regulations, has much more detail on
each statute in terms of their implementation in specific instances.

You can search these documents within Adobe Acrobat, the reader
required to view them. You can download Acrobat at this link, if you
don't already have it:

How tall is it when it is piled high?
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
For the federal code, if you were to assume 12 point Courier New font,
with 1 inch margins, then the 24 megabyte file (rounded; approximately
24,000,000 characters long) would be about 7,979 pages on 8.5" x 11"
paper. 7,979 pages of regular 20 lb paper stacked is about 30 inches,
or about 2.5 feet. This would include all of the beginning table of
contents information.
For the California Code, if you were to print out the Sales and Use
Tax Regulations file, at 558 pages, you'd be looking at somewhere
around 2 inches high for 20 lb., 8.5" x 11" paper.
How can I get a itemized listing of all the different taxes in
California and Federal? Is there a book been written on this?
