Question ID: 524746
I'm looking for equipment that can clean the steel rollers of a
powered line shaft conveyor to replace the manual process we use
today. Imagine this: 100 feet of 24" wide (frame to frame)powered
line shaft conveyor with steel rollers every 3.25". This adds up to
about 370 rollers. Usually, one or more people armed with some sort of
solvent and a few hand towels is what it takes to clean the rollers.
Is there a piece of equipment that can do this instead? I'm imagining
something that travels along the length of the conveyor cleaning as it
travels. For example, (theoretically)if I were to take a "huge dirt
abosorbing cloth" and place it on the conveyor, the rollers would be
cleaned as they moved the cloth down the line.

Is this the kind of solution you are looking for? This company creates
custom brushes for cleaning conveyor systems.

The second link (http://www.benthams.com/WDC/ext_int.htm) shows a
fixed brush that replaces a conveyor roller in order to to clean
things as they pass over it. I'm looking for the opposite--a "brush"
(or whatever is used) that cleans the rollers as it passes over them.

Imagine a regular old brown box heading down a conveyor line. If I
were to put wet dripping black paint on the bottom of that box, it
would essentially "paint" the rollers black as it came into contact
with them, right? Well, I'm looking for the same concept but something
that cleans the rollers while it conveys across them. Make sense?

Gotcha. I'm still looking. Thus far I've had no luck. I'll get back to
you if anything develops.
