Hi

I don?t intend to demand more than a simple straight forward review for my site:

http://www.allmusicmanager.com

A practical objective observation is all I seek.

Thanks,
Elias

English is obviously not your native language.

Try browsing it with JavaScript and ActiveX turned off.

The resolution of your images looks slightly odd to me.

Using '>' for bullet points is highly unconventional
- it is likely to make some HTML parsers suspect a problem

Personally I dislike making menus out of loads of little graphics files
- since you know about CSS it makes me wonder why you do this

Viewing in 800 x 600 is slightly annoying as the width 'degrades' to
slightly over 800 - resulting in a horizontal scroll bar.
This does not seem necessary.

I'm not qualified to comment on the content, it looks a fairly
interesting idea, but my music appreciation abilities are ... limited.

Using '>' for bullet points ( it should be <UL> - unordered list )
makes me suspect that whoever produced this is not really conversant
with the basic principles behind HTML
- which is fair enough, provided they did not mis-represent themselves.

I apologize if I have been excessivly harsh.

You have been a little bit harsh, but that?s O.K.
You get credit for responding, and as I believe your intensions were
good, I could easily forgive. My language was kept simple and clear,
because that?s me. I don?t get impressed by high language. Most people
do prefer common language. Content and good productive ideas ? that?s
what counts.
The other comments relate to technical aspects, where I have no
understandings. I would appreciate some "simple" explanation as to
their meanings. However, my understandings are that I need to replace
my web designer.

Thanks again frde-ga for your remarks. I would be glad to have any
other suggestions you may have.

I agree with you about using a simple vocabulary.

You would be wise to get a native English (American) speaker to check your copy.

I'm afraid that your web designer could do with a little 're-education'

You might find that you are the best person to write the HTML
- it is not that complicated, although it is a bit tedious.

I have actually received encouraging comments as to the language
presentation, so I do not completely agree with your opinion on this
particular matter. The other comments including the ones related to my
other question (SEO) are all taken seriously, and I will try to
improve in accordance.
What practical results would those (html) changes that you have
suggested, have on my web site. Are they crucial, or just cosmetics?

Thanks,
Elias

Well, Elias, I am a native (British) English speaker
- if I can detect that your site is not from the USA then ...

It is difficult to say whether something is crucial or cosmetic

There are different schools of thought when it comes to web page design.

The old school that believes in pure HTML, and the 'new' school who
try to treat the web page as a desk top publisher document.

One also needs to take into account the target audience.
If you are aiming at young kids, then you'll need to give them bells and whistles.

You should be the best judge of what appeals to your target audience.

The main thing to remember is that Search Engines are primarily
interested in text - they cannot read pictures (although they can read
picture descriptions).

After that they are interested in links.

When it comes to page design, what looks good on one screen size,
resolution and browser can look dreadful on another.
It is like planting a garden
On needs to make sure it looks good in Winter, the worst time of the
year, it will then be acceptable in the other seasons.

Good Luck
