Hi Vinayaka,
In the end I found two schools in Milan that offer short courses about
leather and handbags.
FASHION INSTITUTE
-----------------
Offers a 3 month course or a monthly monothematic course:
3 MONTH COURSE
"This intensive course takes place everyday for the whole day. The
subjects dealt with will be those pertaining to the leather products
with in-depth studies on footwear, leather goods and leather garments.
The subjects of the course are the following:
- ILLUSTRATION: graphic representation of the human figure, footwear,
leather garments and bags to achieve quality technique.
- RENDERING: graphic representation of all materials (leather, fabrics
and metal finishes).
- METHOD RSEARCHING: method research for trends and colors with the
aim to create customized concepts completed with color palette to
create new collections.
- COLLECTION: creation of collections in line with market trends
playing particular care to enhancing students' bents.
- TECHNIQUE: study, design and technical realization of 3D last to
manufacture any type of footwear and use of suitable machinery to
carry 3D projects
- TECHNOLOGY OF MATERIALS: in-depth study of all materials employed,

MONTHLY MONOTHEMATIC COURSE
The monthly course is meant for people who who already have a specific
experience in the field and want to widen only one subject that, for
personal or work reasons, can not attend for more than one month,
since their activities do not allow it.
Attendance is 5 days a week for about 6 hours a day minimum.
It can concern footwear, leather goods. This module allows us to
customize our proposal and make it suitable to the student's needs.
The study plan includes the same subjects as those taught in the
three-month course, but the teaching method is quite different since
it aims to synthesize the notions supplied.
Head Office -
The Muggiano Giampiero Editore group boasts a long experience achieved
in the field of leather fashion. Its magazines are renown all over the
world since they are distributed for over 50 international trade
fairs. After an accurate analysis of different italian schools
operating in this field and in order to satisfy the numerous requests
of trade operators, Muggiani Giampiero Editore srl decided to open
courses for Design and Technique for Footwear, Leather goods and
Leather garments.

ARS ARPEL SCHOOL
----------------
1-MONTH Course
From Monday to Friday full-time
Courses on studying and pattern making of some basic styles, foolowed
by more complicated and current models. Analization of problems
involved in design and pattern making of:
- hard, soft, classical and sport bags
- technical-design solutions applied to more trendy models

- theories on different construction used in prduction
- ideas on types of leathers and reinforcing materials most widely used
Besides the subjects indicated, the training programme includes
leading work techniques of all kind of bags and their stylistic
coordination with special regards on financial and commercial aspects.
The programme is intended to develop indivdual expertise, by promoting
creative research and design of collections in a wide range of models
and trimmings, making the student aware of fashion content and
combination of colours and shapes.
Particular attention is given to studying the model, hard and soft,
and choice of materials, based on correctly defining the sales target
For a complete educational programme CAD/CAM one-month course is
suggested. During this course Ars Arpel School teachers show how to
apply traditional (manual) methodologies to 2D CAD systems.
Saturday-morning Course
Every Saturday for 9 months
It is a 'compressed' way to learn Ars Arpel School methodology. The
number of bags-styles that can be studied during this course is
reduced. Hence at the end of this period, in order to complete
training, the students should take an Advanced Course of three weeks,
full time to obtain the Diploma of Leathergoods Modelist-Designer that
can be obtained after the 1-month course.
LEATHERGOODS - CAD 2D
Objective of the course is to learn how to translate the sketch of a
bag into a geometrically precise design of the pattern ready for
cutting the material to be used. Topics covered during the course are:
- 2D CAD design of all patterns of bags complete with different
cutting and sewing margins and notches
- nesting of the pattern obtained on cardboard and writing descriptions
- creation and printing of a database of all materials used (cost,
wastage) and work stages in order to know, in real time, the actual
cost of an item at any steps of its creation
- exporting and cutting of the cardboard patterns by means of a plotter
