Hi, I had the same problem with a Dell precision M60 whe I update my
bios to a version newer than A01 I have the same problem with the
battery. My solution was to downgrade my bios to version A00 but with
MS-DOS CD instead with windows. U can try to downgrade your bios to
version A36 or to version A00.

I accidentally updated my bios with an incorrect version and my
computer would not boot, the manufacturer never replied to my email.
The only way to recover was to order a new bios chip with the correct
bios installed. Check out username ***angelb*** on Ebay. You'll have
your new bios in a few days. Very professional. Here is one of the
listings.

basically you should take out the battery rom of the portatil. Every
PC has one or reset the Bios Flash. (hardware)

Check out and read the owners manual to find out how to do that.

hope it helps.
Phossil.

You should run "I5150A38.exe /forceit /forcetype" from command prompt.
Switch "/forcetype" allows to flash almost any Dell bios to almost any
Dell notebook. Switch "/forceit" allows to flash bios without AC and
battery.

As we see as you allready flashed bios with a wrong version now the
only option for you is to replace your motherboard as there is no
other option available for you

On a PC there is ussualy a way to phisicaly reset eprom by some jumper
on the moterboard or by making a short circuit on the motherboard.Try
to find out how it is done on your motherboard and that should work
for you.

Resetting the CMOS will only reset the Setting of the BIOS Software,
that is now incorrect. The only fix (without replacing the
motherboard) is to replace the CMOS chip, but most ready-built
computers don't have replicable CMOS, if this is the case you will
need a new motherboard.

Some people maybe able to reflash the CMOS, but that depends on if the
new BIOS can handle the In and Out procedures like the correct BIOS
would, which dose not appear to be the case for you.

Massing up the Bios is just about the only thing that can turn a
computer in to a paper weight.

Not at all "just about the only thing", but it's one of the quicker
ways (and also one that'll make you want to slap yourself when you
realise what you've done).

Some other ways to make your computer into an unwieldy paperweight:
- Connect the power supply incorrectly and fry your motherboard
- Drop liquids into your power supply and fry your motherboard
- Lightning strike, "I always did intend to get a surge protector"
- (happened to a friend of mine) Bad power-conditioning capacitors on
the motherboard, after a while they leak corrosives everywhere and the
motherboard dies
- Wait ten years.

To the root!

Your bios is a small square or rectangular chip on your motherboard
(usually black and marked with a hologram) that pushes into a socket.
It's about the size of a finger nail and usually runs flush with it's
socket. You'll most likely need a paper clip to remove it. Pull it out
and send it to the manufacturer with a padded SASE to have it
replaced.

The bonus to waiting a few days for this process is that you usually
get your chip back with the most up to date bios on it.

There's several ways to fix this problem.

Progressing from easiest and (most expensive) to (hardest and cheapest.)

1)Replace the motherboard.

2)Remove the BIOS chip and have it sent to to the manufacturer to be fixed.

3)
(a)Find someone with the exact model and version of motherboard as you
do and borrow theirs for a bit. This has to be someone that you
trust, because there is a very real chance their's may get screwed up
in the process. Before you pull it out, PLEASE note the orientation
of the BIOS chip. Take pictures if you have to.

(b)Replace your fried BIOS with the good BIOS. Doublecheck that
orientation, PLEASE.

(c)Boot the computer up. YEA!!! No, not fixed yet. The real fun is yet to come.

(d)While the computer is running, but after it's completely booted.
Pull out the good BIOS and replace it with the fried BIOS.
Orientation... check it.

(e)Flash the fried BIOS with a CORRECT BIOS update.

(f)Reboot and pray to whatever diety you think will show pity on you.

That's it. If you think that sounds easy, think again. You'll have
to make a tool out of paperclips to pull the BIOS chips out with.
I've tried tools that I've bought at RadioShack and I wouldn't
recommend them. They suck, at least for this application.
I've done this twice and I'd rather not have to do it again, but If
you want to try it, please feel free. You'd better be very sure of
yourself.
