I want to know how well the best companies (UK and overseas) are
doing, when it comes to selling online. Specifically this question is
about how manufacturing companies start to sell small consumable items
like post-it notes, stationery (low-cost items) online, having had a
big traditional brick-and-mortar prescence. I need to exclude travel,
banking, insurance, porn, (which is a pity because they do make up the
majority of the online selling industries). How does an established
big manufacturer start to sell small ticket items online to the
consumer? Through existing distributor and dealer networks? What about
channel conflict? Does E-bay or Amazon feature in their plans? What
share of their business (ie: 10%) is sold online directly to the
customer? What are the websites where these manufacturers are selling?
How long does it take to sell online from a cold start, for an
existing big manufacturer? |
