Do you have information on the death of Alice Ernsberger from Salem,
MA or surrounding areas?

PWsock --

There are a large number of databases from which researchers can pull
death or obituary information, ranging from Rootsweb to the Social
Security Death Index to newspapers. It will likely find several
Ernsbergers in each century -- so it would be helpful to researchers
to know an approximate date for the death. Also helpful are any other
names (different first name, nickname, maiden name).

Best regards,

I have information on the newspaper in which a death notice or
obituary was published, the date of publication -- actually two dates
are listed, one day apart from each other -- her age at time of death,
and her middle initial and maiden name. Would this information be
sufficient for an answer?

Hello pwsock,

If you search on the Obituary Daily Times "Interactive Search"
(http://obits.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/obit.cgi) for Alice Ernsberger,
you'll find these two results:

"ERNSBERGER, Alice T (L'ITALIEN); 44; MA; Salem E-N; 2002-5-13; matms
ERNSBERGER, Alice T (L'ITALIEN); 44; Salem MA; Salem E-N; 2002-5-14; matms"

(Unfortunately, this site doesn't allow for a direct a link to the
search result. The query is easy to enter at the URL I've cited.)

These entries provide last name, first name, middle initial, maiden
name, age, location, publication, date (year, month, day), and tag
name. The publication and tag name represent the Salem Evening News,
as indicated here:

"Obituary Daily Times - Publications List" (Updated 07-Mar-2005) [find
Salem E-N or matms in page, about 4/5 down the page]
