Dear hrmanager,

Would you mind providing a city or state. It would assist the search greatly.

Thanks,

The seminar was attended about 25 years ago in Manville, New Jersey.
Evidentally he also wrote a book under the same name.

Hi hrmanager-ga,

The consultant and author you are looking for is Ferdinand F.
Fournies, a speaker and consultant and former professor at Columbia
University's Graduate school of business.

Mr. Fournies has written the book --

"Coaching for Improved Work Performance, Revised Edition"
McGraw-Hill Trade; ISBN: 0071352937; 3rd edition (November 15, 1999)

Along with the following titles (listed at Amazon.com below) --

"Why Employees Don't Do What They're Supposed To Do and What To Do
About It"
"Why Customers Don't Do What You Want Them to Do and What to Do About
It "
"Performance Appraisal Design Manual"

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=books&field-author=Fournies%2C%20Ferdinand%20F./102-8675801-2665712

From the back cover of "Coaching for Improved Work Performance,
Revised Edition"

"For decades, managers around the world have turned to best-selling
author Ferdinand Fournies for solutions to their toughest coaching
problems. Now, this classic has been fully updated to help managers
face the challenges of today's rapidly changing workplace, from
absenteeism, high turnover, and teams to flextime, job sharing,
telecommuting, and keeping employees up to speed on new technologies."

Unfortunately, contacting Mr. Fournies may not be easy. He does not
seem to have a web presence of his own, and I cannot find him listed
with any speaker's bureaus. Here are some of the larger ones I
checked.

http://www.thespeakersbureau.com/
http://www.findspeakersandbureaus.com/
http://www.igab.org/
http://www.sterlingspeakers.com/
http://www.bigspeak.com/

Although his early books were self-published under the name, F.
Fournies and Associates, that name leads nowhere.

As a final ditch effort, I also searched obituaries but found no
listing.

My suggestion would be to contact his most recent publisher, McGraw
Hill and see if they can put you in contact with him. Their contact
information is here --

http://books.mcgraw-hill.com/contact.html#editorial

Frankly, it surprises me that this man, who is touted as an
"internationally recognized consultant and speaker" has so little web
presence of his own. Of the thousands of returns for all the
variations on his name, every one is just another reference to his
book.

Maybe now that you have the correct spelling you can find him through
HR resources that I don’t have. Also, one thought might be to check
out his most recent book in a bookstore and see if the book itself
includes a "Have Mr. Fournies speak at your event" card or contact
information.

If there is anything here that isn't clear, please feel free to ask
for clarification.

Best of luck to you --

K~

Search terms used:

At Amazon.com I searched: coaching improved performance
That led to me to his name. Then I searched using Google for all
variations of his name with and without middle initial, quotes, etc.
Also searched: speakers bureaus

Thanks so much for the stars!

Here's something I missed ... I thought it was another Spanish site,
so didn't go there, but one of my colleagues pointed me to it ...

"Ferdinand F. Fournies is an international management consultant
specializing in programs to improve human productivity in business.
.... He has been guest lecturer for Columbia University Graduate
School of Business for 14 years and instructor for the MBA Program at
Fairleigh Dickinson University."

http://www.trabaho.com/articles/bookreviewarchive12.html#4

Here's the website for Fairleigh Dickinson University - though I have
searched the site and find no trace of Mr. Fournies.

Again, thank you for the stars and the kind words.
