I am a novice Photoshop user trying to apply a halftone effect to a photo using photoshop. The effect I'm looking for is similar to the one used on the photo in the background of the Panera Bread website (www.panerabread.com). I am looking for a step-by-step guide to applying the effect. More information: * I assume that the source photo is changed to greyscale at some point in the process. I require the additional step of adding a color back to the image (as the orange shade is added back to the panera bread example). * Like the Panera photo, this effect will generally be applied to images with a dominant foreground and neutral background (in case that matters). * I have access to Photoshop CS but would like to be able to apply the technique using earlier versions of Photoshop. Thanks for your help. |

Hi there, If you're using PS CS, you can choose the Filter --> Sketch --> Halftone pattern to experiement. I remember seeing a tutorial some time ago that used alpha channels to create a half-tone dot effect, but I can't find it on the web, now. One possible way to simulate the effect is to scan a halftone image with flat color and add that as a layer to your document in PS. Then use various blending modes and opacities to apply it to your image (Screen, Multiply, Vivid Light, etc. in the layers palette). HTH, Font9a |
