Ive recently been to paris,i have eaten what was advertised on the menu as sirloin. As far as i knew this would have been beef sirloin steak.Since returning to england, everyone has been telling me this would have been horsemeat,as the french dont have beef on their menu.I have done some homework on the matter through google which says the menu should read "cheval" if it is horse meat.Whatever meat it was it was delicious. Please help |

Don't panic! Horsemeat dishes are rarely found in Paris restaurants. And the French in fact consume a lot of beef. In any case, horsemeat is a lot healthier than beef! |

Your friends are teasing you. The French have laws about food description that are arguably more stringent than the British ones. nproctor is quite correct: the French love beef. There are restaurant chains (e.g. the 'Hippo' chain) which specialise in beefsteaks, and there are usually several beefsteak options on most restaurant menus. And these are invariably cooked extremely well. |
