Question ID: 527033
I want some information about homicide detectives, especially direct
narratives. Some kind of online journal would be ideal, although
naturally a detective isn't going to reveal details about an ongoing
investigation, or anything like that.

In particular, I want to learn about male homicide detectives in the
United States. (I already have some info about what it's like to be a
female homicide detective.)

Thanks in advance.

Hello griffith933-ga,

I haven't been able to find any homicide detective blogs but I was
wondering if these would be helpful. I look forward to your
clarification.

I think those will help. Can you find anything else?

Hello griffith933-ga,

I've already tried many different approaches and this is all I've been
able to come up with. Part of the problem is that there are lots of
blogs that refer to fictional homicide inspectors. My impression is
that real life homicide inspectors are not likely to be permitted to
talk about their professional lives that openly. I'd be willing to
give it another shot if you could tell me how you will use the
information or what is the context of the question. Sometimes having a
telling detail opens up brand new avenues for searching. I look
forward to your clarification.

Well, in this case, it would be all right if you could find some blogs
by people who used to be homicide detectives-- maybe somebody
complaining about the system, or something. Let me know if you find
anything.

Hello griffith933-ga,

Here is a collection of links to blogs, diaries, articles and reports
about the personal experiences of homicide investigators or others who
write about and quote them extensively. All of them should contribute
to your understanding of the world of criminal investigation and the
lives of people who work in the field.

Best wishes for your project.

Hi czh-ga,
could it be that you omitted the link to Jill Leovy's diary, your first item?

(And congratulations for staying on the job!)
