Hi andrew513,

There are lots of free BASIC compilers and interpreters, as shown on
this list from thefreecountry.com:

http://www.thefreecountry.com/compilers/basic.shtml

There are also commercial products, such as, for example:

Microsoft Visual Basic
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/

Liberty BASIC
http://www.libertybasic.com/

The Google Directory page on BASIC is a good starting point for
exploring the wide world of BASIC software:

I hope this is a satisfactory answer to your question. If you need
any more information, please ask for a clarification.

Regards,

It depends on the language you use.

For C/C++, I recommend Dev-C++.

When you say "BASIC" do you meen you want to program in the BASIC
style language or do you want a programming language which can make
basic (eg simple) programs?

If you are doing BASIC then you can use microsoft visual basic. Or
you can just do a google search for QBASIC, which was free with MS-DOS
and I *think* can be downloaded for free from some sites. I'm not
positive but there might also be one called GBASIC.

You can get some very good c++ compilers under the GNU license, eg
free download. Try GCC

Best,
Steve
